Developer Frogwares has locked in an August 18 release date for The Sinking City 2. The Lovecraftian survival horror sequel is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. To give players an early taste of the madness, a one-hour playable PC demo has just gone live on Steam, covering the opening hour of the full game.

The announcement comes alongside a powerful statement from Frogwares, highlighting the immense adversity the team faced while developing the project in a war zone. Head of publishing Sergiy Oganesyan detailed a production cycle plagued by constant disruption, including regular power and heat cuts, sudden military call-ups within the staff, and frequent air raid sirens. Even during the week the team finalized the release date internally, their home country faced some of the worst infrastructure attacks since the conflict began. Despite the ongoing chaos, the studio expressed profound pride in coming together to finally bring the game to the finish line.
Set against a supernatural, flooded vision of 1920s America, the sequel takes players into the rotting streets of Arkham. The narrative centers on Calvin Rafferty, a reckless occult adventurer whose botched dreaming ritual has left his girlfriend, Faye, trapped in a mysterious slumber. To save her, Calvin must explore a derelict cityscape by foot and by boat, navigating ruined mansions, submerged markets, and abandoned hospitals.
The Sinking City 2‘s gameplay leans heavily into survival mechanics, forcing players to scavenge for sparse resources and strictly manage a limited inventory. Survival means using an arsenal of era-appropriate firearms and melee weapons to fend off Eldritch abominations – most notably the Slither, a plague of otherworldly entities that reanimate and warp the dead into lethal puppets. While navigating this morally gray story of personal loss, players can also choose to delve into optional investigations and puzzles to unearth hidden lore, secrets, and character upgrades.
