Nintendo and developer Intelligent Systems have officially announced the release date for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the latest tactical RPG installment in the iconic strategy franchise. Developed specifically for Nintendo Switch 2, the game is scheduled to launch globally on September 17, 2026.

The core narrative shifts away from traditional military warfare to focus on a high-stakes, magical tournament arc known as the Heroic Games. Set within the prosperous Dagdan Empire – a vast, divine realm directly overseen by the gods – the grand competition promises to grant a single, ultimate wish to the absolute victor. The campaign structure follows a non-linear, time-traveling saga of strength and steel, telling an interconnected story across four primary, selectable protagonists whose distinct fates are deeply tied to the survival of the world.
Players can choose to follow Cai, a determined young boy fighting through the ranks to secure his imprisoned father’s freedom, or Dietrich, a ruthless wandering swordsman seeking out a worthy, ultimate adversary. Alternatively, players can experience the narrative through Theodora, a sovereign queen vying for the prize to fulfill a centuries-old dream for her kingdom, or Leda, a fiercely talented musician executing a long-calculated quest for personal vengeance.
Fortune’s Weave‘s gameplay structure returns to the franchise’s celebrated division between tactical combat and deep social-hub management. Between major bracketed tournament matches, players will navigate the capital city of Dagsion and its surrounding territories under strict, limited-time calendar constraints. Free time can be spent at local training grounds to master specialized combat techniques, venturing beyond the city walls to clear monster-infested dungeons and hunt down bandits for raw experience, or socializing with units to form tactical battle bonds. When entering the arena, the game deploys traditional grid-based, turn-based strategic battles where victory relies on leveraging unit-specific advantages and deploying cinematic, character-exclusive special abilities to turn the tide.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will retail digitally for $69.99, while standard physical copies will be available for $79.99. Enthusiasts can also look forward to a premium collector’s edition dubbed the “Dagdan Collection” for $119.99, which bundles a collectible SteelBook case, an exclusive character art card pack, a physical fabric world map of Dagda, and a comprehensive 200-page official art book.
