The Elder Scrolls Online kicks off its 2026 content roadmap with Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk launching April 2 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. In addition to content updates, The Elder Scrolls Online will expand its accessibility with a release on PC Game Pass and support for Xbox Play Anywhere starting June 2.

Unveiled during the 2026 Seasons Direct, the new seasonal structure introduces a rotating format where each season lasts around 90 days and delivers themed content updates, gameplay improvements, and rewards. Season-based content will be accessible to all players who own the game, marking a shift toward a more unified live-service model.
Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk opens with a limited-time Event Zone called The Night Market, set within the Oblivion realm of Fargrave. Over the course of seven weeks, players can align with different factions and take on PvE challenges to earn unique rewards, including a player home. Alongside this, the long-awaited Challenge Difficulty system is introduced, allowing optional scaling of open-world difficulty with increased rewards for those seeking a tougher experience.
Combat and PvP systems also receive updates during this first season, including a new Veterancy progression system for PvP and a class refresh for the Dragonknight. Additional quality-of-life improvements aim to streamline progression, reduce grind, and improve customization options across the board.
Looking ahead, Season One arrives this summer with a new storyline centered around the Thieves Guild, set in an updated version of Glenumbra. The return of Sheogorath introduces a new narrative arc filled with unpredictable quests, while puzzle-focused content such as The Sage’s Vault expands gameplay variety. Further updates planned throughout 2026 include experimental features like naval combat and underwater exploration in the High Seas of Tamriel event. Solo-focused dungeon variants and a brand-new Trial, the first added to the base game since launch, are also in development.
Beyond 2026, the roadmap teases a major return to Skyrim in early 2027. This new region will introduce the game’s first Excursion Zone, alongside dynamic environmental systems such as snowstorms that actively influence gameplay.
