The solo indie developer behind Fearwoods has rolled out a major presentation update for the upcoming online co-op survival horror game, set to launch for PC via Steam in Q3 2026.

A refreshed Steam page has gone live, debuting an updated trailer showcasing the game’s environmental lighting enhancements and overall atmosphere. Alongside the visual refresh, the developer has published a comprehensive development roadmap outlining the planned progression from the game’s current PC demo into Early Access and its eventual full release.
Fearwoods is a cooperative survival horror experience set within a cursed forest where players must utilize light, silence, and teamwork to survive. The primary loop tasks players with exploring the woods, gathering clues, and piecing together the story of a figure named Aveline while evading a relentless, hunting demon. While the currently available Steam demo offers a playable online co-op mode restricted to one partial map with basic AI behavior, the newly revealed roadmap bridges the gap toward future development phases.
According to the infographic, the upcoming Early Access launch will expand the game into one full map featuring larger exploration spaces, partial narrative mechanics, and a risky system where players lose collected story fragments upon death. It will also introduce dynamic horror events and improved AI behaviors, such as hallway appearances. The full version aims to deliver three chapters spread across three distinct maps, reality distortions, scripted chase events, and advanced demon behaviors like ceiling crawling.
