Steelkrill Studio has revealed a unique feature for its upcoming psychological survival horror game, Where Dolls Hang, describes by the solo developer as a blend of The Forest, Outlast, P.T., and Silent Hill. The title is set to launch for PC via Steam.

Set in Mexico and inspired by the country’s folklore and the real-life Island of Dolls (Isla de las Muñecas), the game will allow players to find and watch complete, hour-long public-domain horror films from start to finish directly inside the game world. Among the watchable movies hidden throughout the world is the iconic 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead.
Rather than relying on traditional survival horror mechanics, Where Dolls Hang places players in the role of a detective investigating missing person cases. Gameplay requires examining bodies, collecting clues, placing evidence markers, and documenting crime scenes with an in-game camera. The forensic investigation system is mixed with survival, exploration, and crafting, tasking players to travel between cursed islands by boat, gather resources, and survive the supernatural dangers lurking within the woods.
A release date for Where Dolls Hang has yet to be announced.
