The haunting atmosphere of the Lands Between is officially headed for the big screen. A24 and Bandai Namco have confirmed that the live-action Elden Ring movie will premiere on March 3, 2028. Directed by Alex Garland—who reportedly secured the project after pitching a massive 160-page script directly to FromSoftware—the film is being produced with a heavy focus on visual scale, including a dedicated IMAX release.

The production has assembled an expansive cast to bring the world to life. Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, and Nick Offerman lead an ensemble that also includes Jonathan Pryce, Kit Connor, and Peter Serafinowicz. While we don’t know which Tarnished or Demigods they will portray yet, set leaks have already teased game-accurate details like the statues of Marika and the grim landmarks of Limgrave.
This adaptation isn’t just a corporate collaboration; it’s a passion project for Garland. The Civil War director is famously a veteran player, currently deep into his seventh playthrough. The film’s narrative is built upon the foundational mythology established by George R. R. Martin, with FromSoftware’s own Hidetaka Miyazaki overseeing the creative direction to ensure the transition from console to cinema stays true to the game’s DNA.
