Sony Pictures has announced an R-rated animated adaptation of Bloodborne, with the project revealed during CinemaCon 2026. The film is currently in development and is being co-produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and Sean McLoughlin, widely known as jacksepticeye.

During the announcement, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch noted that the adaptation will remain “very true” to the spirit of Bloodborne. That direction suggests a commitment to the game’s bleak atmosphere, cryptic storytelling, and intense visual tone rather than a reimagined interpretation.
This debut also brings together multiple production entities with ties to both gaming and broader media. Developed by FromSoftware and originally published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the 2015 title Bloodborne established itself on PlayStation 4 with a distinct gothic horror setting and methodical combat design. The animated project builds on that foundation while aligning with Sony’s broader push into cross-media adaptations.
