Publisher Bethesda Softworks and developer Bethesda Game Studios have revealed new details on the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield, highlighting visual modes and enhanced DualSense wireless controller support ahead of its April 7 release.

On PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, players can expect smooth performance, SSD optimization, and full trophy support. The PS5 Pro version introduces two visual options: a 4K-focused “Pro Visual Mode” targeting 30 FPS, and a “Pro Performance Mode” aiming for 60 FPS, both powered by PSSR upscaling technology.
The DualSense controller features are a major focus, with adaptive triggers delivering distinct weapon feedback, while the light bar dynamically reflects player health and ship status. Touchpad controls streamline navigation with quick gestures for maps, menus, and perspective switching, and the controller speaker enhances immersion by playing audio logs and intercom chatter directly through the device.
Starfield launches on PS5 on April 7 alongside the “Free Lanes” update and the “Terran Armada” story expansion. The game is already available on Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.
