Retro-inspired survival horror experience Ground Zero launches April 16 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Published by Kwalee and developed by Malformation Games, the title drops players into a devastated version of South Korea, where a catastrophic meteor impact has transformed the environment—and everything within it—into a hostile nightmare. Set in the ruins of Busan, the story follows an elite Korean operative and her Canadian partner as they investigate the aftermath of the disaster, only to uncover something far more disturbing beneath the surface.
The game leans heavily into classic survival horror design, combining fixed camera angles and pre-rendered backgrounds with modern combat responsiveness. Exploration plays a central role, as players navigate desolate cityscapes ranging from coastal areas to dense urban zones, all while piecing together the truth behind the meteor strike and its unnatural consequences.
Combat is built around versatility, allowing a mix of firearms and close-quarters techniques. Progression is tied to performance, with rewards granted for efficient encounters that can be used to enhance gear and abilities. As the investigation deepens, increasingly dangerous enemies and large-scale boss encounters emerge, pushing both strategy and reflexes.
Beyond its core systems, Ground Zero also incorporates puzzles, customizable difficulty options, and optional tank controls to capture the feel of classic genre staples. Additional unlockables, including alternate outfits and hidden endings, aim to extend replayability for those willing to explore every corner of its unsettling world.
