Developer Unreliable Narrators has launched the PC version of its World War I first-person narrative adventure, The Caribou Trail, via Steam and Epic Games Store. However, the planned PlayStation 5 release has been delayed to July 7, 2026. According to the studio, the console delay follows the discovery of a critical build issue that could not be resolved in time for the scheduled launch.

Set during the Gallipoli campaign of 1915, the game follows Fisher, a young man who leaves his quiet harbor town in Newfoundland to join the British war effort alongside his friends, Gordon and Lonnie.
Rather than a traditional war shooter, the experience focuses on resilience and the bonds formed in the trenches. Players navigate historical events from the initial landing to the final evacuation, undertaking missions like cutting barbed wire in no man’s land, silencing snipers, and recovering the dog tags of fallen comrades.
The gameplay in The Caribou Trail blends first-person narrative exploration with elements of folklore and psychological horror, reflecting how soldiers coped with the trauma of the front lines. Rather than tracking scores or kill counts, the narrative emphasizes quiet moments between actions, such as sharing stories around a campfire, cooking traditional meals, and deciding whether or not to pull the trigger during critical encounters.
