Shortly after its reveal, METRO 2039, the newly announced next chapter in the long-running post-apocalyptic series, has already surpassed one million wishlists on Steam. Deep Silver and 4A Games revealed on April 16 that the franchise will return to consoles and PC this winter.

Decades after the world ended, the struggle for survival continues deep beneath the ruins of Moscow. METRO 2039 pulls you back into those familiar, claustrophobic tunnels, but the underground has changed. The Metro is now firmly in the grip of the Novoreich, a society built on propaganda and iron-fisted control, promising a return to the surface that feels more like a threat than a hope.
For the first time in the series, you’ll experience this world through a fully voiced protagonist known as The Stranger. Haunted by his past, he is forced back into the very system he once tried to leave behind. While the game stays true to its roots with tense combat and a suffocating atmosphere, the focus has shifted even deeper into the human cost of living in the dark. It’s not just about surviving mutants and radiation anymore; it’s about navigating a world where fear and ideology are just as lethal.
METRO 2039 is set to release this winter on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store & Microsoft Store.
