ININ Games has provided a status update on the launch of side-scrolling shoot ’em up R-Type Dimensions III.

While the digital rollout remains on track for its May 19, 2026, debut, the publisher has moved the standard physical release to August 11, 2026, citing global logistics and manufacturing constraints. To compensate for the wait, those who pre-ordered physical copies can request a digital key to start playing five days before the official launch.
This latest entry in the legendary shoot-’em-up series aims to modernize the classic R-Type formula with updated visuals and refined mechanics. The retail version is being handled with a focus on preservation; ININ Games confirmed that the physical discs and cartridges will contain the most recent game build, effectively removing the requirement for a Day One patch. Players will be able to experience the full evolution of the franchise directly from the media.
Collectors looking forward to the premium edition will have a longer wait, as the Collector’s Edition is now scheduled for a winter 2026 release. The delay is tied to an upgrade in production, specifically regarding the edition’s centerpiece. ININ Games revealed that the collectible figure is being developed by Wētā Workshop to ensure a higher level of detail. Despite the scheduling shifts for physical goods, the digital launch later this month ensures the game’s immediate availability across all major platforms.
The digital version of R-Type Dimensions III is set to launch May 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
