DaRmaZat City Connection has announced that R-TYPE DX: Music Encore will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on April 30.
The title is a port of the 1999 handheld shoot ’em up R-TYPE DX, which bundles the series’ first two entries, R-TYPE and R-TYPE II. A central feature of this edition is the “Ultimate Challenge” mode, allowing players to play through both games consecutively. For this release, the mode has been updated with a complete soundtrack, including newly implemented arcade-accurate stage themes for areas that originally shared music tracks.
In addition to the “Ultimate Challenge”, the collection includes the original versions of both games with selectable monochrome and color display options in Classic mode. Modern quality-of-life features have also been integrated, such as a rewind function, quick save/load states, and a “Full Power-Up” start option.
The release aims to recreate the authentic arcade experience using original handheld hardware sound while offering detailed performance tracking for competitive play.
