Post-apocalyptic first-person shooter Metro 2039 will be officially revealed on April 16 during the Xbox First Look: Metro 2039 broadcast.

The announcement event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CEST and will be streamed via YouTube, marking the first look at the next mainline entry in the long-running Metro series. Developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver, the upcoming title continues the franchise’s focus on atmospheric storytelling and survival-driven gameplay.
As the fourth core installment, Metro 2039 follows Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Exodus, building on a universe inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky. While 4A Games focuses on the mainline entries, the franchise expanded in late 2024 with Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening, a VR-exclusive prequel to the events of Metro 2033. The series is known for its depiction of a nuclear-devastated Moscow, where survivors endure life within the underground metro system while facing threats both human and mutated.
While specific gameplay details for Metro 2039 have yet to be revealed, expectations center around a continuation of the series’ signature blend of immersive world-building, resource management, and narrative-driven progression.
