The first major DLC for city-building strategy game Anno 117: Pax Romana, titled Prophecies of Ash, launches on April 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.
We’ve already reviewed Anno 117: Pax Romana and came away very impressed. You can read our full review here.

Announced during the recent Anno Day livestream, this expansion introduces a range of new gameplay elements that deepen the strategic layers of the Roman empire-building experience. Developed by Ubisoft Mainz, Prophecies of Ash adds a new deity to worship, alongside the introduction of obsidian as a valuable resource and a new trader named Ceacilia, each influencing economic and progression systems in different ways.
At the center of the DLC lies Cinis, described as the largest island ever featured in the Anno series. This volcanic landmass brings a constant sense of tension, as its unstable nature threatens settlements with potential eruptions, forcing more calculated planning and risk management from those looking to expand their influence.
The update is positioned as a step forward in complexity, encouraging more deliberate decision-making when managing the growing demands of a Roman empire. Alongside the DLC, a referral program runs from April 9 through May 12, rewarding participants with Fame Points that can be exchanged in-game for cosmetic items, music tracks, and other bonuses.
Prophecies of Ash is available as a standalone purchase or as part of the Year 1 Pass, which also includes the upcoming expansions The Hippodrome and Dawn of the Delta, scheduled for later in 2026.
