The Spell Brigade, a chaotic co-op roguelite with Survivors-like gameplay, hits version 1.0 on April 29, launching simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Following a highly successful Early Access period that surpassed one million copies sold, Belgian developer Bolt Blaster Games is preparing its biggest update yet alongside the full release. The milestone highlights the game’s strong reception, further supported by a large number of positive user reviews on Steam.
At its core, the experience revolves around cooperative spellcasting, where up to four participants join forces to battle overwhelming waves of enemies and towering bosses. The gameplay leans heavily into synergy and unpredictability, with friendly fire adding an extra layer of chaos that forces constant awareness during combat.
The 1.0 update introduces a wide range of new content and systems. Additional enemy types, including new minibosses and a fresh endgame encounter, expand the challenge, while a revamped progression system allows players to reset their rank in exchange for new rewards and unlockables. These changes are designed to encourage experimentation and extend long-term replayability.
A new playable wizard joins the roster, increasing the variety of builds and team compositions. This addition ties into the game’s dynamic spell system, which allows abilities to be modified and combined in multiple ways, creating diverse strategies across different runs.
The full release is also accompanied by a newly composed soundtrack from Austin Wintory, known for his work across several notable titles, bringing a more cinematic layer to each environment and encounter.
