Chengdu-based independent developer Jotoyo Games has officially unveiled Monster Fantasy, an ambitious premium life-simulation role-playing game for PC, set to release via Steam. Built by a 20-person team, the game blends freeform real-time combat with deep village management, a combination that previously went viral on the Chinese platform Bilibili, clearing over one million views.

The core innovation of Monster Fantasy lies in its split design, separating the game into independent combat and life-simulation modules so players can progress through the story entirely on their own terms. You can focus strictly on hunting colossal beasts like Fire Dragons and Griffons, or spend your time gathering resources, crafting, and building a homestead. Defeated monsters can be tamed as companions that age and evolve new skills over time, and the entire campaign supports both solo play and online cooperative multiplayer.
Combat is determined dynamically by weapon choice rather than permanent class locks, letting a single character freely swap between the defensive Warrior, agile Swordsman, long-range Archer, and elemental Mage. Outside of hunting, players can recruit local villagers for expeditions, build up relationships, and dive into cozy activities like fishing, cooking, and potion making.
To further expand the project’s scope, the studio has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign and is planning to release a public PC demo in early July.
