With summer temperatures hitting their peak, the freezing snowscapes of the holiday season feel entirely distant. Yet, despite the current summer heatwaves, publisher Outright Games and Dr. Seuss Enterprises are already setting up a winter wonderland with the official announcement of The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas. Shifting away from the sidescrolling setup of its predecessor, this festive 3D platforming adventure is scheduled to deploy on September 18, 2026, across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Picking up after the events of his iconic moral turnaround, the title follows a reformed Grinch whose heart has famously grown three sizes. Alongside his loyal canine companion Max, the green protagonist sets out on a wholesome mission to construct the grandest, most spectacular Christmas tree Who-ville has ever seen.
The gameplay loops take players through fully realized, snowy 3D hubs – stretching from the vertical caverns of the Grinch’s lair to the slippery slopes of Mt. Crumpit and the crowded, bustling town center of Who-ville. Mechanically engineered as an accessible, family-friendly cooperative experience, The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas natively supports local drop-in co-op. This allows two players to assume simultaneous control of the Grinch and Max to solve contextual environmental puzzles, collect hidden tree decorations, and outsmart local adversaries.
Robin Flodin of Outright Games noted that the project builds upon the gameplay foundation of the 2023 title, converting the IP into a more expansive, layered 3D world designed to entertain all age brackets ahead of the holiday rush.
