Nintendo has dropped an extensive new gameplay trailer for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, giving fans a final look at the vibrant, pop-up world before it lands exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 this Thursday, May 21.

While the core premise of Yoshi exploring a sentient encyclopedia named Count Tome is already familiar, the fresh footage shines a spotlight on the game’s creative, physics-based creature mechanics. The trailer details exactly how players will experiment with the local wildlife to solve environmental puzzles.
Among the newly shown interactions, we see Yoshi using certain animals to rapidly grow edible plants, riding bubble-blowing creatures to reach high-altitude secrets, and even bouncing across musical beasts to create platforming rhythms. The footage also highlights Yoshi’s ability to carry specific creatures on his back to borrow their unique traits, offering a much deeper layer of experimentation than typical entry-level platformers.
With Bowser Jr. and Kamek shown causing mischief across diverse biomes like tropical jungles and coastal shores, the trailer sets up a charming mechanical sandbox that looks to make full use of the new hardware’s capabilities.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launches exclusively for Switch 2 on May 21.
