With Subnautica 2 preparing to surface in Early Access on May 14, Unknown Worlds has now outlined official PC system requirements across multiple performance tiers, giving prospective explorers a clearer idea of what hardware will be needed before descending into its new alien ocean.
The newly released specifications range from modest 1080p low settings to high-end 4K configurations, reflecting the broader technical scope of the sequel’s expanded survival experience.
At the minimum level, Subnautica 2 targets 1080p at 30 FPS with hardware such as a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT paired with an i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, while recommended settings for 1440p at 60 FPS move into RTX 3070 and RX 6700 XT territory. Higher-end Ultra and Ultra++ presets scale further into RTX 4070, RTX 5070 Ti, and top-tier CPUs, signaling a more demanding technical profile for those aiming to experience its deeper visual upgrades at maximum fidelity.
Set on a new alien world following the stranded crew of the CICADA colony ship, Subnautica 2 expands the series with larger biomes, new Leviathans, advanced base-building systems, and the debut of optional four-player online co-op while preserving its core single-player identity. New traversal options such as the Tadpole submersible and evolving Early Access content updates further position this sequel as a broader systems-driven survival sandbox.
Subnautica 2 launches on May 14 in Early Access via Steam, Xbox Store, and the Epic Games Store.
