Unknown Worlds has debuted the cinematic trailer for Subnautica 2, confirming that the highly anticipated sequel will enter Early Access on May 14, 2026. The game will be available at 8:00am PT / 11:00am ET for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Xbox Store, and the Epic Games Store. Subscribers can also dive in on day-one via Game Pass.

Early Access is priced at $29.99 USD, with localized pricing appearing on respective storefronts. This one-time purchase includes all future content updates leading up to the 1.0 release and beyond. Set on a brand-new alien world, the story follows the pioneers of the colony ship CICADA who find themselves stranded after a mission goes wrong. Players must navigate breathtaking biomes and survive against towering Leviathans while uncovering the mystery behind the ship’s insistent AI.
For the first time in the series, Subnautica 2 offers an optional online co-op mode for up to four players, though it remains crafted as a core single-player experience. Players can customize their bases, upgrade tools, and traverse the depths in the new Tadpole submersible. As an Early Access title, the game will evolve with community feedback, adding more creatures and biomes throughout the development process.
Subnautica 2 launches on May 14 in Early Access via Steam, Xbox Store, and the Epic Games Store.
