Badass Mongoose has announced that their upcoming monochrome puzzle adventure, Helix: Descent N Ascent, will no longer be hitting its original May 21 release date. Instead, the Belgian indie studio has set a new launch date for July 23, 2026, on both Steam and Nintendo Switch.

The decision to delay comes after an overwhelmingly positive response to the game’s demo. The developers shared that the feedback inspired them to go bigger, adding an extra layer of content to ensure the final game matches the ambitious scale they originally envisioned. Beyond the new content, the team is using the extra two months to polish the Nintendo Switch version, aiming for parity with the PC release in terms of performance and stability.
If you’ve missed it, Helix is a striking, non-violent journey defined by its unique black-and-white aesthetic – drawing inspiration from everything from 80s indie comics to 90s manga. It’s also a project built around sound, featuring a dreamlike, atmospheric score by Jim Guthrie (Sword and Sworcery, Nobody Saves the World).
While waiting a little longer is never ideal, it sounds like the extra time will turn Helix into a much deeper experience when it finally arrives this summer.
