D’Avekki Studios, the developer and publisher behind the upcoming psychological FMV puzzle thriller The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker 2, has shared a new end-of-year update, confirming that a playable Steam demo is coming early next year.

The update arrives as a brief status check-in ahead of 2026, accompanied by newly released footage that expands on what players can expect from the sequel. Alongside confirming the upcoming demo, the studio offers additional glimpses of in-game interactions and systems, as well as an extended teaser featuring Marianna, the assistant character whose role once again appears central to both the narrative and its underlying tension.
Serving as a direct successor to The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker, the new entry continues D’Avekki Studios’ signature FMV-driven approach to detective storytelling, previously seen in The Shapeshifting Detective, Dark Nights with Poe and Munro, and Murderous Muses. Players step into the role of a therapist tasked with questioning and treating a group of deeply unreliable patients following the murder of a professor, all while piecing together clues that may expose a killer hiding in plain sight.
The series’ gameplay centers on carefully chosen questions, reviewing recorded sessions, and linking statements together to progress the investigation. The structure emphasizes player agency, with outcomes shaped by interpretation rather than traditional puzzle solutions. Each playthrough features randomized elements that determine the identity of the murderer, ensuring that answers, conclusions, and endings differ from one session to the next.
The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker 2 is currently targeting a 2026 release on PC via Steam. D’Avekki Studios is also aiming to ensure Steam Deck compatibility for The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker 2 through a native Linux build, with support for webm video playback and a newly scaled interface designed for larger screens. A Steam demo is planned to arrive early next year, offering players an early opportunity to explore its investigation mechanics, narrative structure, and evolving cast of suspects ahead of launch.
