Publisher Square Enix and developer ACQUIRE have announced that both Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. While both titles have surprise-launched digitally via the Nintendo eShop in Japan today, the Western release is scheduled for October 1, 2026.

In Western territories, the acclaimed HD-2D RPGs will launch individually across both physical and digital formats for $59.99 each, alongside a digital-only bundle option. Japan will simultaneously receive a physical bundle containing game-key cards on the same October date.
These upgraded iterations are engineered to leverage the power of Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, boasting enhanced resolutions and smoother frame rates compared to their original releases. The dual release brings the franchise’s signature tactical Break and Boost combat systems, dynamic day-and-night cycles, and branching eight-character narrative structures to the new platform in their definitive technical forms.
However, Square Enix confirmed that these versions will not support save-data transfers from the original Nintendo Switch versions, nor will there be an upgrade path available for existing owners.
