Publisher Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry have announced that Mortal Shell II, the standalone sequel to their 2020 dark fantasy action RPG, will officially launch on August 20, 2026. The title is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

In Mortal Shell II, players assume the role of the Harbinger, a prophesied entity tasked with traversing an interconnected, compact open world to reclaim stolen cosmic artifacts from false deities. The journey spans twisted biomes, frozen graves, and bone-carved citadels, supplemented by more than 60 distinct challenge dungeons hidden across the shattered landscape.
Mortal Shell II expands significantly on its predecessor’s foundation by dropping standard stamina management constraints entirely, shifting toward an agile yet grounded combat model designed around shattering enemy posture for critical strikes. The sequel relies on its signature mechanic of possessing the dormant, scattered bodies of fallen warriors – now offering eight distinct Shells with deep progression systems and upgradeable weaponry.
Standard digital pre-orders have gone live across all platforms for $49.99 / €49.99. Players looking for early entry can opt for the digital Devout Edition ($59.99 / €59.99), which grants up to 72 hours of advanced early access alongside an exclusive Obsidian skin set compatible with all eight of the game’s core playable Shells. Physical collectors on PlayStation 5 can also secure the Revered Edition, a boxed bundle featuring a SteelBook case, a premium art book, fine art prints, and multiple bonus skin packs.
