Developer Anima Project has officially announced that its upcoming dark fantasy action RPG, Anima: Song from the Abyss, is scheduled to launch in 2027. Set within the established universe of the Anima: Beyond Fantasy tabletop franchise, the project is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The narrative begins aboard an imperial zeppelin plunging into immediate chaos after the majority of its crew mysteriously vanishes without a trace. Soren, the last remaining knight guarding the airship, frantically tries to protect a highly volatile cargo: a powerful relic from an extinct civilization.
In a desperate attempt to keep the crashing vessel afloat, he inadvertently breaches the artifact, releasing an ancient legendary entity named Noein. Stranded together in a bizarre, subterranean pocket of reality known as the Abyss, Noein offers the dying knight a pact of survival. In exchange for keeping him alive, Soren must help her decipher the haunting song that brought down her ancient civilization and discover the reasons behind her eternal confinement.
Anima: Song from the Abyss features a dual-protagonist gameplay framework, allowing players to dynamically cycle between two unique main characters mid-exploration. The game’s real-time combat system infuses fast-paced hack-and-slash action with deeper RPG leveling structures, distinct skill trees, and weapon-forging mechanics. Players will traverse a handcrafted, interconnected world filled with hidden zones, interactable NPCs whose bonds change based on dialogue choices, and massive boss encounters ranging from towering legendary monsters to giant wyrms.
