A new chapter in the BrokenLore anthology has been revealed with BrokenLore: DON’T PLAY, a first-person psychological horror experience in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A release date has not yet been announced.

At the center of BrokenLore: DON’T PLAY is Hideo, a hikikomori driven by obsession with video games and the need for recognition. When a mysterious experimental console arrives, what begins as an escape quickly spirals into something far more invasive. The game’s structure unfolds across five levels tied to this device, each introducing new rules and consequences that begin to bleed into Hideo’s reality as his apartment shifts and time loses coherence.
This entry leans heavily into the intersection between virtual and physical space. BrokenLore: DON’T PLAY gradually transforms familiar surroundings into distorted reflections of Hideo’s mental state, reinforcing themes of isolation, identity loss, and validation. The experience builds tension through environmental changes and psychological pressure rather than direct confrontation, maintaining a persistent sense of unease throughout.
As part of the broader BrokenLore saga, the game also reconnects with characters from previous entries, including Shinji and Junko, linking standalone stories through fragments of a larger mystery known as Elysium. With each release contributing new pieces to that overarching narrative, DON’T PLAY continues to expand the series’ layered approach to storytelling.
