Developer Antistatic Studios has released DevLog #2 for Phantom Line, its upcoming 1-to-4 player co-op first-person shooter. The new behind-the-scenes video breaks down the tactical mechanics and lore behind “Husks”, an essential gameplay loop designed to maintain strategic depth whether playing solo or alongside a full squad.

In Phantom Line, players step into the boots of an elite Operator working for the mysterious Mortfield Industries megacorporation. Dispatched to the “Iron Corridor” – a post-nuclear Eastern European region destabilized by ongoing international conflicts and strange paranormal activities – the unit’s goal is to track down and contain volatile spatial-temporal anomalies hidden from the public eye.
The core feature of this spec-op group is the H.U.S.K. program (Husk Operator Simulation Program), which serves as a powerful tactical asset. It enables operators to transfer their consciousness at will between multiple artificial bodies placed on the field. The video demonstrates how players can use these swappable husks for deep strategic positioning – utilizing them as decoys, distraction objects, or scouts to evaluate threats before attacking.
The devlog also showcases the Mortfield Operating System (mOS), a brand-new in-universe user interface. This updated UI framework includes a distinct boot-up sequence and clear visual elements intended to make tracking, managing, and swapping between available Husks highly intuitive without fracturing the game’s immersive atmosphere.
Phantom Line is currently slated for an Early Access launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, with an official release date yet to be determined.
