Publisher SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have confirmed that STRANGER THAN HEAVEN is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, with availability on Game Pass at launch.

A full reveal is scheduled for May 6 during a dedicated broadcast titled “Xbox Presents: A Special Look at STRANGER THAN HEAVEN,” where more details about the project will be shared.
The latest trailer offers a broader glimpse at the game’s scope, revealing a narrative that spans five distinct time periods—1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965—across multiple Japanese cities. This multi-era structure suggests a wide-ranging story that explores different moments in history, each brought to life with a strong focus on atmosphere and authenticity.
Gameplay footage also teases a more advanced combat system, featuring a mix of melee combat, weapon usage, grappling mechanics, and environmental interactions. Alongside the action, the trailer highlights traversal elements such as city transport, as well as character-driven moments including relationships and side activities, a hallmark of the studio’s design philosophy.
STRANGER THAN HEAVEN appears to combine cinematic storytelling with dynamic gameplay systems, supported by a strong emphasis on music, including a jazz-inspired soundtrack that plays a central role in its presentation. More details on its cast, mechanics, and structure are expected during the May showcase.
