Publisher DreadXP and developer Vincent Adinolfi have announced that Heartworm, a retro-style survival horror game inspired by late-’90s classics, will launch for PC via Steam on July 31.

Blending fixed-camera tension with modern over-the-shoulder controls, Heartworm follows Sam, a young woman grappling with loss, who travels to a secluded mountain home rumored to have supernatural properties. Drawn by a mysterious online forum, she hopes to reconnect with a loved one lost to death—only to uncover something far more unsettling.
Players will explore atmospheric environments filled with puzzles and danger, using a camera in place of traditional weapons. The game supports multiple endings, optional tank controls, and a visual presentation that evokes the look and feel of early 3D console horror titles. A haunting original score underscores the game’s psychological themes.
With 4–6 hours of story-driven gameplay, Heartworm serves as a heartfelt tribute to genre-defining series like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, while carving out a distinctive identity of its own.
