Altered Alma Debuts New Gameplay at Secret Sauce Showcase 2026, Launches Updated Demo

Developer 2Awesome Studio and publisher Critical Reflex debuted a fresh look at Altered Alma yesterday during the 2026 Secret Sauce Showcase, giving fans a glimpse into its violently beautiful world. A brand-new demo update is also live on Steam, letting players dive back into the action with freshly tuned gameplay and polished mechanics.

Altered Alma blends a classic Metroidvania formula with RPG elements, a dating simulator, and a striking pixel-art aesthetic set in Neo Barcelona – a futuristic reimagining of the iconic Spanish city complete with landmarks like the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. Players step into the shoes of Jack, a mercenary navigating a city ruled by ruthless gangs and cyborg armies.

Between intense, high-speed combat encounters, players can customize their spaceship base of operations, the Esperanza, recruit crew members, and forge deep relationships with a colorful cast of characters – even finding love along the way. The game’s gripping narrative is penned by industry legends Antony Johnston (Resident Evil: Village, Dead Space) and Emma Beeby (Tails of Iron, Still Wakes The Deep).
