Sports Interactive and SEGA have rolled out a major feature update for the Football Manager 26 ecosystem, officially introducing international management ahead of this summer’s highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The substantial update drops today across all major iterations of the franchise, including FM26, FM26 Console, FM26 Touch, and FM26 Mobile.

The update introduces an array of mechanical overhauls designed specifically for the international arena. Managers will gain access to reworked squad-building functionality and specialized Match Preparation training modules tailored for rapid tournament preparation. For players looking to bypass domestic league management entirely, a new quick-start option has been implemented, allowing them to dive straight into the group stages of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Underpinning the update is Sports Interactive’s historic first licensing agreement with FIFA, which integrates authentic tournament branding and official broadcast graphics directly into the match engine. At launch, 47 of the 48 qualified tournament nations will be fully playable, though developers noted that licensing approvals for select team kits remain ongoing.
Beyond this summer’s tournament cycle, the update delivers long-term additions to the simulation. For the first time in franchise history, women’s national team management is fully playable. Additionally, retroactively fulfilling a major community request, this specific international feature update includes deep save-game compatibility, allowing players to port over legacy careers originally started in Football Manager 23 and Football Manager 24.
Football Manager 26 is available on PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, as well as on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, iOS, Android (via Netflix), and Nintendo Switch with the Football Manager 26 Touch Edition.
