Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Playground Games have officially shifted the release window for Fable, delaying the highly anticipated title from its initially planned fall 2026 launch to February 2027. The game is scheduled to debut across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, alongside a day-one launch on Game Pass.
Update June 7, 2026: Fable will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on February 23, 2027, publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Playground Games announced.

The scheduling adjustment was announced by Xbox Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President Mat Booty during a recent appearance on the Official Xbox Podcast. Booty reassured fans that the developmental health of the project remains exceptionally strong, clarifying that the change is primarily a strategic move to secure a dedicated, uncrowded launch window. According to the executive, the team wants to ensure the high-profile title has its own dedicated moment to stand out, rather than competing in a packed autumn pipeline.
Despite the delay, the wait for a substantial update on the game will be brief. Booty confirmed that audiences will see a lot more of the project during the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase 2026 event.
