Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24. The critically acclaimed JRPG will be priced at $39.99. Interestingly, the company confirmed that the physical version of the game will ship on a game-key card rather than a traditional cartridge.

Originally launched for the original Nintendo Switch in 2019 before making its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in 2020, this landmark eleventh installment follows a young village youth who discovers he is the legendary Luminary. Branded as the root of all evil by a hostile kingdom, he must embark on an epic journey with a band of loyal companions to uncover the truth about his destiny.
This upcoming Switch 2 release includes all previously added content from the original Definitive Edition, such as character-specific story chapters, full Japanese and English voice acting, an orchestral score, and the ability to seamlessly swap between 3D and retro 2D graphics modes. Additionally, Square Enix is introducing brand-new optimization modes for the Switch 2 version, giving players the option to prioritize either enhanced visual graphics or smoother performance.
