Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection Details Online Battle and Trading Features

Capcom has shared new details about the online functionality in Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, highlighting several multiplayer modes and expanded social features designed to connect players across the collection’s titles.

The online system allows players to search for matches across multiple games at once through the Preferences menu. Here, players can also manage their save data and edit their card Decks before jumping into battles.

Three types of online battles are available. Casual Match offers relaxed battles without ranking consequences, allowing newcomers to experiment with different strategies or use Retnal Decks to ease into the combat system. Ranked Match pits players against increasingly skilled opponents as they earn Rank Points through victories, gradually climbing the competitive ladder. Friend Match, meanwhile, lets players invite friends directly to battle, recreating the series’ classic “Brother” rivalry system in an online setting.

Trading also returns as part of the online suite, enabling players to exchange battle cards with others to complete their collections or acquire specific abilities for their Decks. The Brother List feature has been significantly expanded compared to the original Nintendo DS releases. Instead of being limited to six Brothers, players can now connect with up to one hundred per title, making it easier to swap partners, build strategies, and keep track of opponents met through online battles.

Originally released during the Nintendo DS era, the collection brings together seven versions across the Mega Man Star Force trilogy. The series follows Geo Stelar and the alien Omega-Xis as they merge into Mega Man to confront threats across both Earth and the digital Wave World. The compilation preserves the hybrid real-time and card-based combat system that defined the subseries while adding modern enhancements such as quality-of-life improvements, an expanded gallery of artwork and music, and updated online capabilities.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection launches on March 27 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
