Publisher Konami and developers Evil Empire and Motion Twin have announced gothic action platformer Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game is scheduled to launch in 2026.

Set in medieval Paris in 1499, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse follows a successor to Trevor Belmont as monstrous creatures overrun the city. Armed with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, the protagonist ventures through burning streets and a looming castle in an attempt to halt the invasion and prevent the city’s destruction.
Belmont’s Curse‘s combat centers around the series’ iconic whip mechanics, which now play a greater role in both traversal and encounters. Players can use the whip to swing across environments and engage enemies in fast-paced battles. In addition to the whip, a variety of secondary weapons and abilities expand combat options, encouraging strategic use of different tools depending on the situation.
Exploration remains a core element as well, with biomes designed around environmental hazards, traps, puzzles, and hidden chambers. The game introduces a new art direction that builds upon the franchise’s gothic aesthetic while incorporating a more colorful visual style. Familiar series elements, including secret areas, collectible items, distinctive characters, and formidable enemies, are set to return.
According to the official Castlevania website, the project marks the beginning of multiple new initiatives planned in celebration of the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
