Nintendo has launched Mario Tennis Fever for Switch 2 today, available physically at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop (NL-BE, NL-NL, US). The latest entry in the long-running series features the largest roster in franchise history, alongside new gameplay mechanics, modes, and accessories.
Mario Tennis Fever includes 38 playable characters—more than any previous installment—including series newcomers such as Goomba, Nabbit, and Baby Waluigi.
A new gameplay element, the Fever Racket system, introduces 30 unique rackets that grant special effects. As you rally, they build up an FV meter that, once filled, enables a powerful Fever shot. Depending on the equipped racket, you can ignite the court with fire attacks, summon hazards such as Pokeys, enhance speed to return difficult shots, and more.
The game offers a range of new and returning modes. You can compete online in Lobby Match, which supports customizable rulesets, or Ranked Match, where players face off against competitors worldwide. Local play supports one to four players, including motion-based controls designed for accessible and energetic multiplayer sessions. A new Mission Tower Mode challenges you to progress through a series of increasingly difficult objectives as well.
An Adventure Mode follows Baby Mario on a story-driven journey. As you progress, you learn the fundamentals of tennis mechanics while overcoming challenges and defeating enemies. The narrative centers on restoring Baby Mario to his adult form through skill development and competitive victories.
The game also supports the GameShare feature, allowing up to four players to participate using a single copy of the game. Additional players can join via local wireless connection using their own Switch 2 or Switch system.
Mario Tennis Fever is available now exclusively for Switch 2. Alongside the game’s launch, Nintendo has released new light purple and light green Joy-Con 2 controllers, now available for pre-order via the My Nintendo Store.
