Publisher CI Games and developer Hexworks have released a gameplay reveal trailer and a new set of screenshots for Lords of the Fallen II, the upcoming dark fantasy action RPG currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store, with a planned release in 2026.

The newly unveiled footage debuted during The Game Awards and offers the first extended look at in-game combat and boss encounters. The trailer highlights three major foes players will face during their journey through the shattered kingdom, each emphasizing the game’s brutal tone and increased combat intensity. Among them is the Heartroot Warden, a heavily armored guardian wielding a massive chain-bound greatsword, as well as Koydreth, a winged adversary striking through a rune-carved mirror. The showcase concludes with Lingao the Souring Storm, a colossal dragon-like entity that bends wind and lightning to devastating effect.
According to game director James Lowe, the reveal reflects the studio’s players-first design philosophy, with a clear emphasis on faster, more aggressive combat, a wider range of enemy types, and more elaborate boss encounters. The footage signals an evolution of the Soulslike formula, focusing on spectacle and intensity while retaining the punishing challenge the series is known for.
Set in a world fractured between the realm of the living and the Umbral domain of the dead, Lords of the Fallen II continues the series’ dual-realm structure. Players explore a kingdom consumed by darkness, navigating collapsing civilizations and confronting immortal forces tied to the gods themselves. Combat blends melee, ranged attacks, and magic into a fluid system where timing and positioning remain critical, while the Umbral Lamp allows traversal between realities, revealing hidden paths, threats, and opportunities.
