Little Nightmares – Broken Promises Selected for Annecy International Animation Film Festival

Little Nightmares – Broken Promises, the stop-motion short film previously teased during the Little Nightmares Showcase Event, has been officially selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The film will be screened in the Commissioned Films category.

The project is a collaboration with Taller del Chucho, the International Animation Center of the University of Guadalajara and a renowned stop-motion studio founded by Guillermo del Toro. The short returns to the original inspirations behind the Little Nightmares franchise, embracing a handcrafted animation style that enhances its signature eerie tone.

Directed by Sofía Carillo and Juan Medina, the film brings together experienced talent in animation and filmmaking. Carillo is known for her award-winning short Cerulia, while Medina has received multiple Ariel awards and worked on projects such as Tío and Salma’s Big Wish.

Broken Promises follows a neglected girl trapped in an attic who escapes into a dollhouse-like world filled with promises. As she explores deeper, the illusion begins to unravel, revealing a darker reality where danger lurks behind every corner.
