Lords of the Fallen II, a dark fantasy soulslike action RPG, is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store, with a release planned for 2026.

New gameplay footage highlights a major evolution of the series’ dual-realm system, focusing on the reworked Umbral dimension. Presented through a developer roundtable, the update outlines how player feedback from the original title has shaped what is now referred to as “Umbral 2.0,” a far more aggressive and ever-present force throughout the experience.
The world continues to revolve around two intertwined realities: Axiom, a traditional dark fantasy setting marked by historic conflict, and Umbral, a grotesque mirror realm that constantly threatens to bleed into the living world. Traversal between these dimensions remains central, but the consequences have been intensified. Entering Umbral now exposes players to escalating danger, with the environment itself reacting more dynamically to their actions rather than relying on predictable systems.
This new interpretation of Umbral emphasizes unpredictability and pressure. Environments are more varied and invasive, shaping both exploration and narrative moments. The sense of dread evolves organically, as threats emerge based on player behavior instead of fixed timers, reinforcing a more reactive and hostile atmosphere.
Enemy design also receives a substantial overhaul, introducing creatures capable of transforming into more dangerous forms mid-encounter. Combat builds on this intensity with expanded enemy variety and a stronger focus on brutal execution mechanics, including dismemberment systems that aim to make encounters more visceral and deliberate.
Set long after the fall of the demon god Adyr, the sequel continues to explore a world under siege by forces tied to the Umbral realm. As a Lampbearer, the player navigates this fractured reality, balancing risk and reward while uncovering the deeper connection between the living and the dead.
