Simone Developer SpaceRocket Games and publisher Toplitz Productions premiered a new trailer for Permafrost during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, offering fresh footage from the upcoming open-world survival sandbox ahead of its Early Access launch later this year.
The video highlights the frozen world left behind after a cataclysmic event known as “The Shattering”, which shattered the moon and plunged Earth into a global ice age. Players must endure extreme cold, scavenge the remnants of civilization, and build shelters and tools while navigating the dangers of a snow-covered wasteland. Survivors can explore the world alone with a loyal dog companion or team up with friends in co-op to search for resources and outlast the hostile climate.
The trailer also serves as a preview for an upcoming playtest that will allow players to experience the game early and provide feedback to help shape development.
Permafrost is an open-world survival sandbox set in a frozen post-apocalyptic Earth where players must hunt, craft, build shelters, and manage hunger, exhaustion, and extreme weather while exploring icy environments such as abandoned cities, forests, caves, and ruined settlements. The game supports solo play or online co-op with up to four players as they attempt to reclaim what remains of humanity.
Permafrost will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam later in 2026.
