Outbound, a Camper Van Exploration Game, Launches April 23 for Consoles and PC

Open-world camper van exploration game Outbound will release on April 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, publisher Silver Lining Games and developer Square Glade Games have announced. A demo is currently available for Switch 2 and Switch.

Set in a utopian near future, Outbound begins with players inheriting an empty electric camper van that gradually evolves into a fully customized mobile home. The experience combines open-world exploration with crafting and base-building systems, allowing players to construct modular additions both inside and on top of their vehicle. As the journey unfolds, the van becomes a self-sustaining moving base tailored to individual playstyles.

Energy management plays a central role in progression. Players must harness renewable sources such as solar, wind, and water power to keep their systems running efficiently. Advancing technology unlocks more sophisticated tools and automation options, enabling increasingly complex production chains and streamlined resource processing.

Beyond engineering and customization, Outbound encourages self-sufficiency through gardening and food preparation. Players can cultivate plants and mushrooms, prepare meals to restore vital needs, and adapt their setup to shifting environmental conditions across diverse biomes.
