The game will be available in both Standard and Blood Editions, with all pre-orders receiving the Leon’s Secret Stash downloadable content. The premium edition adds two post-launch content packs that include exclusive character, weapon, and vehicle cosmetics, a gold color set for weapons, a weapon charm, and an extra skin for each playable character.
The game is set in a near future where a catastrophic scientific experiment has transformed the world into a wasteland overrun by undead horrors. In response, the mastermind behind the failed project assembles a low-budget, last-resort task force known as the Toxic Commando. Players step into cooperative squads and fight back using an arsenal of firearms, explosives, abilities, and even melee weapons, supported by fast-paced vehicular combat.
On both foot and wheels, players must push through massive enemy swarms powered by Saber’s proprietary Swarm Engine, the same technology behind titles such as World War Z: Aftermath and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II. The game offers full cross-platform cooperative play for up to four players, encouraging teams to combine their selected classes, combat roles, and preferred loadouts.
The adventure leans heavily into campy 1980s horror influences and buddy-action energy, combining explosive firefights with grimy apocalyptic landscapes. Players improve their skills, unlock new options, and tackle increasingly challenging threats as they work to stop the Sludge God and restore what remains of the world when John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando launches next year.
