Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Kojima Productions have detailed several new features arriving alongside the PC release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, while the newly added content will also be made available simultaneously on PlayStation 5. The game launches for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on March 19.

Originally released for PlayStation 5, the PC version introduces additional gameplay features, technical improvements, and new optional challenges.
New Gameplay Features
One of the most notable additions is the new “To the Wilder” mode, an optional challenge designed for players seeking a more demanding experience. The mode places Sam Porter Bridges in harsher environments filled with more dangerous enemies, requiring careful planning and resource management to complete deliveries successfully.
The update also introduces a new VR training area titled Trapped in a Strange Realm, allowing players to relive Sam’s confrontations with Neil. Completing these challenges unlocks additional fieldware items, including new bandanas that Sam can equip during gameplay.
Another smaller addition comes in the form of Chiral Feline visits, where the mysterious cat-like entity can occasionally appear in Sam’s private room aboard the DHV Magellan. The Chiral Feline has also been added as a new option within Photo Mode.
PC Technical Enhancements
The PC version—developed with support from Nixxes Software—includes a range of technical upgrades designed to take advantage of modern PC hardware.
These enhancements include full support for upscaling and frame generation technologies such as DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, alongside uncapped frame rates and extensive graphical customization options. The PC version also supports super ultrawide monitors (32:9) during gameplay and ultrawide (21:9) during cutscenes.
Players can use full mouse and keyboard controls with custom keybindings, while those using a DualSense controller will benefit from haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support, along with Spatial Sound.
High-end PC systems will also have the option to enable ray-traced reflections and ambient occlusion, enhancing lighting, shadows, and reflective surfaces such as water and tar. These ray tracing options are entirely optional and intended for players looking to push visual fidelity beyond the existing “Very High” graphics settings.
