Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the next entry in Nintendo and Retro Studios’ first-person shooter series, has received a new seven-minute overview trailer ahead of its release for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4.

The trailer highlights the game’s opening scenario, which begins with an assault on the Galactic Federation UTO Research Center by Sylux, prompting Samus to respond to a distress call. After an unforeseen turn of events, she awakens on the unfamiliar planet Viewros, where survival becomes her immediate priority as she seeks a way to escape.
Viewros features a range of hostile wildlife and varied biomes, from dense jungles and storm-stricken factories to frozen laboratories and volcanic facilities, all linked through the expansive Sol Valley. Samus relies on familiar tools such as the Scan Visor, Power Beam, Missiles, and the Morph Ball, while also gaining new Psychic Abilities that let her manipulate energy, activate machinery, and access new pathways.
The overview also showcases Vi-O-La, a vehicle created by an ancient civilization that enables fast traversal across Sol Valley. Samus can summon the vehicle depending on her location, use it to fend off enemies, and shatter energy-rich crystals at high speeds to fuel her mission.
