A new gameplay trailer for psychological horror title The Occultist was showcased during the Future Games Show – GDC Edition, part of the broader GDC Festival of Gaming, where more than 40 upcoming titles from studios worldwide were highlighted through trailers, announcements, and developer spotlights.

Developed by DALOAR and published by Daedalic Entertainment, The Occultist is a first-person narrative-driven psychological horror game that places players in the role of paranormal investigator Alan Rebels.
The story follows Alan as he travels to the remote island of GodStone in search of answers surrounding his father’s mysterious disappearance. Once a settlement tied to a notorious cult that performed disturbing rituals before vanishing in the mid-20th century, the fog-covered island now lies abandoned. As Alan investigates the decaying town, he uncovers clues tied to the cult’s dark past while facing the supernatural forces that still linger there.
Central to gameplay is a mysterious pendulum artifact that allows players to interact with and manipulate the environment through several unique mechanics, forming the foundation for exploration and puzzle-solving throughout the island. Rather than focusing on combat, the experience emphasizes stealth, tension, and atmospheric storytelling. Players must hide, evade hostile entities, and unravel occult mysteries while gradually piecing together the truth behind the island’s curse.
The Occultist will launch on April 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A Deluxe Edition will also be available, including a 200-page digital art book and the complete original soundtrack composed by Pepe Herrero.
