A newly revealed “Everything You Need to Know in 60 Seconds” trailer for Directive 8020 offers a condensed look at the game ahead of launch. The game is set to launch on May 12 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC via Steam.
Premiering during the Galaxies Showcase, the latest footage of Directive 8020 frames the core premise aboard the Cassiopeia, a colony ship thrown off course during a mission tied to humanity’s survival. What begins as a recovery effort quickly shifts into a tense struggle against an alien organism capable of perfectly imitating its victims, turning the crew’s environment into one defined by uncertainty and suspicion.
The structure builds on Supermassive Games’ cinematic approach, blending branching narrative design with more immediate survival elements. Encounters now unfold in real time, requiring evasive movement, stealth, and rapid decision-making under pressure. Systems such as the story tree allow outcomes to be tracked, while Turning Points introduce the option to revisit key decisions, adding flexibility to how the narrative unfolds.
Digital pre-orders for Directive 8020 are now available across all platforms, including PC via Steam. Early purchases include a temporary free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which adds bonus content such as The Dark Pictures Outfit Pack, collectible items, a cinematic filter pack, as well as a digital soundtrack and artbook.
Featuring Lashana Lynch as pilot Brianna Young, Directive 8020 places character dynamics at the center of its tension, where trust becomes a calculated risk rather than a given. Alongside its single-player mode, the game includes a shared “Movie Night” experience for local co-op, with online multiplayer planned post-launch as a free update.
