God of War: Sons of Sparta Launches for PS5

Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developers Mega Cat Studios and Santa Monica Studio have released God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2D action platformer spin-off of the God of War series, for PlayStation 5 via PlayStation Store.

The game explores the early years of Kratos and his brother Deimos during their Spartan training. Set before the events of the main series, players follow the brothers as they investigate the disappearance of a fellow cadet, navigating a series of 2D environments filled with enemies, puzzles, and mythological bosses. The narrative emphasizes their growth, brotherhood, and the challenges of Spartan life, showing how their training shaped their understanding of duty and honor.

Sons of Sparta combines retro-inspired side-scrolling gameplay with the action, storytelling, and visual style associated with the God of War franchise. Players experience a mix of platforming, combat, and puzzle-solving across diverse levels, accompanied by a pixel-art aesthetic crafted by Mega Cat Studios.

Besides this announcement, publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment also announced a God of War Trilogy Remake, developed by Santa Monica Studio for PlayStation 5, confirming that the project is still in its early stages without a set release date.
