UK-based publisher Kwalee and independent developer FLYOS have announced Vampire: The Masquerade – Eternal Whispers, a narrative-focused CRPG set within the World of Darkness universe. Currently confirmed for PC (Steam), the title transitions the studio’s storytelling expertise from their previous narrative board game adaptation, Vampire: The Masquerade – CHAPTERS, into a digital format.

Set in a dark, contemporary vision of Montreal, the plot follows Gabe, a vampire who awakens from decades of involuntary hibernation (torpor) with fractured memories. Guided by a reluctant Thin-Blood companion named Sam, Gabe’s initial hunt for a rogue ghoul spirals into a vast underground conspiracy tied to the Temple of Eternal Whispers – a subterranean cathedral dedicated to a forbidden faith. Players must reconstruct Gabe’s forgotten past, navigate the shifting politics of undead society following the collapse of the Sabbat faction, and decide whether to embrace their monstrous Sabbat origins or preserve their remaining humanity.
Taking design inspiration from modern narrative games like Disco Elysium, Eternal Whispers completely removes traditional combat encounters. Instead, investigations, moral ambiguity, and social manipulation form the core loop, though players can still choose violent or ruthless paths through dialogue and systemic roleplaying choices.
The title features a mandatory fail-forward design architecture where botched negotiations, reckless decisions, or missed clues do not cause a game-over screen; instead, mistakes permanently alter the narrative path and create new complications. For players seeking maximum stakes, the game will include an optional Final Death Mode featuring permanent consequences.
