Publisher Lyrical Games and developer One More Level have announced that Valor Mortis, a single-player first-person Soulslike game, is scheduled to launch on September 24. The dark historical title will release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The narrative blends 19th-century history with supernatural horror elements. Players take control of William, a dedicated soldier of the Grande Armée who is resurrected from a battlefield grave. Upon awakening, William discovers an alternate Europe completely transformed by a destructive and mysterious plague. Rather than being destroyed by the outbreak, William learns to harness its corrupting energy, using his unholy rebirth and the pulse of the virus to unlock supernatural abilities and grow more powerful after every death.
Valor Mortis‘s gameplay framework introduces challenging Soulslike mechanics directly into a first-person perspective. The combat engine requires players to master precise parries, quick dashes, and brutal finishing maneuvers across an array of distinct weapons. Increased character mobility is crucial for survival, allowing you to outmaneuver the plague-mutated monsters of Napoleon’s Eternal Guard. Exploring the war-torn, corrupted landscapes yields hidden environmental secrets that aid in survival while slowly exposing a deep conspiracy tied to historical figures, the outbreak, and William’s resurrection.
